IEP: individualized education plan

What if all of our children were educated as individuals?

  1. Some might say that an IEP for every child in our education system is too lofty a goal. I believe that this is one of the key shifts that must take place in our society to ensure that we as a species are able to survive. Our world has become so complicated and certainly educating children has as well. But with the advances in technology we are more able than ever to track and understand the progress of our students. We absolutely must build a new education system that serves the whole child and ensures that the whole child is known by many caring adults. The IEP could become a shared responsibility for a body of people in the child's community... it could become a facebook like page that houses the data, observations and strategic advice of an interdisciplinary team that mindfully pours over the site in consistent intervals... we are powerful creatures and we have a collective consciousness that should be used for the betterment of our society. How better to change our world than to strategically plan a method for ensuring that each child is known and contemplated in community? Huge idea. I believe that it is totally possible and in fact... we are building capacity in community to create this reality for as many people as is possible. Why not?

  2. Apparently there is a IEP system in KCK Schools. I will get a contact person for more information.

  3. This IEP Demo looks really interesting. How could we add more flavor and personality? How could we cross-pollinate this with a FB like app?

  4. How could this idea of a "lifebox" inform a new type of IEP for our scholars?
